Prolific folk singer Alicia Blue has worked tirelessly to fulfill her musical dreams. She’s done everything from waiting tables to cleaning houses and that unwavering determination shines through in her passionate songs. Her latest track “Star Maps” highlights stunning folky vocals gliding atop organic soundscapes. The song is a cautionary tale of losing yourself in a desire for fame and how one’s ego can consume them. There’s this instant gratification mentality that many people possess and “Star Maps” explores that concept with a witty, sarcastic air. The songstress reveals, “I was sort of venting about a few friends of mine, explaining how I thought they were on the wrong path and weren’t staying true to themselves in order to attain external power and validation. (ie doing it for fame).”

Alicia Blue is known for her reflective songs that tell stories of heart-wrenching realities. Through her work she examines culture and identity. Growing up Alicia witnessed ignorance and racism from many kids around her and still encounters it today. Her experience as a “passing” Latina, and the unsettling comments she’d receive, have pushed her voice to the forefront. Her bold, authentic music strikes a chord with listeners. Check out the stunning single “Star Maps” now.
