Indie pop/rock duo Loud Forest is composed of husband and wife Bernard and Rachel Chadwick. The band started while Bernard was earning his MFA at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena and that creative flair of art merged with rock can be felt all throughout their latest album 17. Shining with effervescent synths and daring instrumentation, the release touches on themes of young love, self-identity and loneliness.

The album commences with their standout hit “Miracle”. Narrating the uncertainty that comes with relationships and falling in love, the track’s minimal yet energetic soundscapes create the perfect dash of gleam. The track’s message resonates deeply with listeners as we can all relate to the fear of messing a good thing up.

A highlight of their colorful offering is “Costa Rica”. Showcasing bright, tropical vibes and warm vocals, it depicts the duo’s unique tale of their jungle encounter where the two first met and fell in love. Bernard passionately sings, “She played guitar and drank tequila, in her ripped up jeans.” It’s striking details like that, which make the lush track so memorable.

Then there’s the shimmering radiance of “Glow”. With glittering synths and blazing vocals this fiery track provides a sonic warmth elevating the song’s message. Detailing basking in the light of a loved one and finding comfort in their kindness, this heartfelt single oozes with all the tender feels.

It is these and many other album standouts that emit true artisanship and really display Loud Forest’s vibrancy. Combining playful pop sensibilities with a rock air, 17 delivers up-tempo hits that are sure to have you moving. Check out the ear-catching album now.
