Trade Secrets are back with the second EP in their series, These Other Lives. Through radiant soundscapes and polished pop production, the 80s-esque offering shines with a rich brilliance. Band member Damien Polak reveals, “ the EP thematically is a bridge between the cold and the warmth, the joy and the melancholy of a person’s mind. It tells about life and everything we are.”

Beginning the EP with “Five Things”, this twinkling track sets the tone for the rest of the release’s daring dark pop sound. Showcasing lush, atmospheric arrangements and deep vocals, this elevated electro tune burns with intensity. “Left Behind” is a slick song that draws you in with a fiery passion and elegant energy. Reminiscent of retro bands like Spandau Ballet, there is a captivating quality that is simply irresistible. The track narrates being stuck in isolation and the toll it takes on you emotionally. Concluding the release with Prehab, this sinister sounding track exudes intoxicating warmth. With robotic bouncing beats and smoky vocals, it is the perfect end to this powerfully penetrating EP.

Trade Secrets is known for their emotive, synth-pop sound. The band is used to working remotely, but since the pandemic their music has attained even deeper meaning. Part one of their sequences deals with an aching uncertainty and part two displays a greater self-assurance and wisdom.
